Turnover analysis

GFI Informatique observed a marked improvement in its activity in France during the second quarter. At the same time, good results continued to be recorded in Software Solutions and in the Public sector. Work with large accounts in the Telecommunications, Banking and Retail sectors benefited in particular from this upturn. ERP integration activities (SAP, Adonix, Oracle) recorded encouraging performances.

This most robust showing resulted in a nearly 2% increase in the level of activity in France and an acceleration in recruitment, with 166 employees joining the Group during the second quarter.

Abroad, GFI Informatique pressed on with measures to restructure its subsidiary in Italy and adapt it to the difficult economic environment, notably in the Turin region. In Spain and Portugal, there was another brisk increase in turnover, with organic growth of respectively 16% and 8% in the first half. Good performances were also recorded by our operations in Canada, Morocco, Belgium and Luxemburg; the level of sales of our Swiss branch has improved as well.

Turnover came to €272.3 million in the first half of 2005, up from €261.3 million the year before, equivalent to increases of 4.2% on a reported basis and 2.7% on a like-for-like basis.

Commercial activities

During the second quarter, GFI Informatique enjoyed a series of major commercial successes, which helped strengthen the order book. Numerous contracts were won by all entities, both in France and abroad.

In France, GFI Informatique notably won an important third party application maintenance contract in the Banking sector, which will provide one service centre with work for several years as well as offer attractive development prospects for the Group’s offshore centres in Morocco and Canada. GFI Informatique, which has just started up a "dot.net" centre of expertise at Grenoble in France, was chosen by a large public sector company to design and develop the first application using this technology. The company also won a contract worth several million euros from another large public sector company to provide corrective maintenance and change management services for a core application. Finally, GFI Informatique won a flat rate contract worth several man-years to perform a complete validation of the equipment of a private telecom operator.

In Italy, GFI Informatique was chosen to supply WiFi series in areas poorly covered by fixed-line Internet networks, with the goal of providing the local population and itinerant workers with access to e-government and e-business services. In Morocco, the company signed a contract worth more than 10 million dirham for the integration and support of its Gestor solution and Adonix ERP. In Canada, further growth was recorded by GFI Informatique, which won a number of prestigious contracts and formed a strategic partnership with Desjardin for the development of a smart card. In Spain, GFI Informatique pressed ahead with its development, which is structured around cutting-edge biometric technologies.

Other highlights

Negotiations for the sale of the Group's British subsidiary are proceeding to plan.

Given the changes in its various business parameters, the Group is confident in its ability to achieve its objectives of an improvement in operating margin in the second quarter and further growth in the second half.

GFI Informatique will publish its first half results on 12 September 2005 after trading hours.
